Field Request Process

All organizations requesting to reserve fields or courts are required to apply by using the link provided above. An application must be submitted for each season or tournament. Please answer all questions in the application. A $100 application fee must be paid (by credit/debit card) when submitting each application.  The deadline to submit the field/court rental application for Spring/Summer seasons is February 28.  (Your application fee will be returned to you if we are unable to accommodate your request with a permit. For your information, the previous “Permit Fee” ($20/resident, $40 non-resident) has been eliminated.)

Permits will be processed separately for Spring/Summer and Fall seasons in an effort to obtain more accurate field usage information to better serve our community’s needs. Organizations that reserved fields/courts in the prior year are given priority for reserving them again in the current year. (A separate Fall Season field request mailing will be sent in mid-May and deadline to return in mid-June.)

Field permit fees (per date/per field) will be assessed after review and approval of the application/dates.  If your online field request application and tournament/sporting event application (if applicable) have not been received by February 28, space may be granted to another organization.

After review of your applications, and depending on availability, final permits will be issued.  An invoice will be emailed for your field usage at a later date, if applicable.   Dates are not guaranteed until a final permit is issued.

Adult activities, non-resident youth sports organizations, and commercial users must pay fees.

In order to receive the Lower Paxton Township resident rental rate, at least 50% of your organization’s participants must reside in Lower Paxton Township.

Rosters will be required every year to determine residency status.

  • If you have received the resident rate in previous years, you may still apply as a resident organization and be invoiced at the resident rate.  However, you will be required to provide your roster, containing complete addresses for each participant, at least two weeks prior to the start of your season. If the roster is not received, it will be assumed your organization is non-resident and you will be invoiced difference.
  • If your roster indicates that less than 50% of your participants are Lower Paxton Township residents, your organization will be considered a non-resident organization and will be invoiced the difference.

Commercial Organization Status

Commercial use is defined as any activity conducted for financial or commercial gain including private lessons, classes, or group activities where the lesson, class or activity has a fee or other monetary barrier to entry.  “Commercial use” also includes any lesson, class, or commercial activities taking place on park system property that is associated with any trade, occupation, profession, business, or franchise.  New commercial users must submit a field request application through the link for staff to review.  After staff review, the submission will be placed on the agenda for review/approval by the Parks and Recreation Board at a regularly scheduled public meeting.  Returning commercial organizations do not need Parks and Recreation Board approval.
