Lt. Lupey has served 21 years with the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police, and she is the first female to earn the rank of Corporal in 2016, Sergeant in 2022, and then Lieutenant in 2024. As the Operations Services Division Commander, she oversees the Patrol Section and Special Projects Section. The public may not realize how many specialized positions exist, nor the depth of resources our highly trained officers provide day to day. Some of the specialized roles include: detectives, traffic safety officers, community engagement team, K-9 Officers, community policing, drone pilots, forensics, and digital forensics.
Lt. Lupey recalls being drawn towards the legal field as early as her 3rd grade project on becoming a judge. In college at The Ohio State University, she studied Criminology and one of her senior courses ultimately directed her path to law enforcement. Growing up with parents and siblings who were very involved with school, sports, and local activities elevated the importance of strong community connections and safe neighborhoods. Lt. Lupey feels fortunate to have experienced a childhood surrounded by an encouraging and supportive community which guided her to a career in public service.
When she is off-duty, Lt. Lupey is usually found at home spending time with her family or on the road cheering her daughter on while she competes with the PA High School Rodeo Association. Lt. Lupey’s son was also a member of the association’s shooting team, before graduating from high school last year. Lt. Lupey admits she is not the most versed in horsemanship but likes spending the weekends learning from her daughter and the other competitors. She enjoys the family atmosphere and watching the young athletes help each other along the way. Traveling to different states aligns well with Lt. Lupey’s personal goal to run a half/full marathon in all 50 states. She’s already checked off Hawaii and Nevada, to name a few, with the Las Vegas race reaching about 45,000 runners.
Lastly, Lt. Lupey is proud to be a member of the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police and proud of the tremendous men and women she gets to work with everyday both at Lower Paxton and throughout Dauphin County. She shared there’s no better experience than helping people in times of need and encourages more people to explore a rewarding career in public safety.
