[ARCHIVED] Notice regarding Penn Waste service issues

graphic for penn waste issues post

Township officials are aware of recent and ongoing service issues with Penn Waste, which they attribute to staffing problems that have led to missed bulk item and yard waste pickups. Please be assured that we are actively addressing these concerns.

The Township demands that Penn Waste take immediate and proactive steps to correct these problems and uphold the standards outlined in their agreement. The current level of service is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time the Township has had an issue with a waste hauler citing staffing issues as a reason for failing to live up to their contracted responsibilities. In 2021, we had issues with Waste Management that led to – at our insistence – company representatives attending several Board of Supervisor meetings to address how they were correcting the problem.

Our staff contacts Penn Waste daily to ensure they fulfil their obligations to our residents. We have made it clear that simply saying “staffing issues” does not excuse Penn Waste from its responsibilities.

The Township is committed to holding Penn Waste accountable and ensuring they promptly implement corrective measures.

We thank you for your patience as we resolve these issues and restore reliable waste collection services to our community.
