Update: PennDOT Reschedules Setting Beams on I-83 North Bridge over Valley Road in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that due to forecasted inclement weather late this evening its contractor has postponed work until midnight Tuesday, May 14, to set new bridge beams on the bridge that carries northbound Interstate 83 over Valley Road east of the City of Harrisburg in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County. Four new bridge beams were successfully set on the southbound I-83 bridge over Valley Road early Saturday morning, May 11.
PennDOT advises motorists that starting midnight Tuesday, May 14, through 5:00 AM Wednesday, May 15, four new bridge beams will be set on the northbound I-83 bridge over Valley Road. Traffic stoppages will impact travelers on northbound I-83 as well as Valley Road under the bridge.
Pennsylvania State Police will assist the contractor in conducting multiple rolling roadblocks between 5 and 15 minutes long on northbound I-83 between midnight and 5:00 AM for crews to safely set four 140-foot long reinforced concrete bridge beams on the bridge that carries northbound I-83 over Valley Road. Flaggers will assist in stopping traffic on Valley Road while the bridge beams are set
