The Lower Paxton Township Historical Commission invites residents to attend monthly meetings and help the Commission form a strong foundation.  One of the primary objectives is educate the community about the township’s rich history and to provide something of educational value at every monthly meeting.   During the July Meeting there will be a Historic Presentation on The Great Linglestown Fair, presented by Judy Miller Klinefelter. For 9 out of the 11 years of the Fair, it was held on her Grandfathers (William R. Miller) Farm.  Her father, Bob Miller as a young boy, dreamed of the fair on the farm, the third year of the fair it was moved to the Miller Farm.  A group of Linglestown High School boys went to State College, PA to learn about the Agricultural Fairs and came back to develop the fair and it ran from 1920 to 1930. The Fair drew 20,000+ people to the rural area in Lower Paxton Township.  There were horse races, animal, produce, food, needle work, judging and even rewards for antiques.  Come and learn what it was like to attend a fair during the 1920’s.  Hear about the Carousel Horses and the Wing Walkers that appeared at the fair.  In 1922 a plane landed at the fair and it was the first time people in the area ever saw a real airplane.
