Trash(Can) to Treasure Public Art Activity

Trash(can) to Treasure is an annual event that happens in the Spring of each year.

2020 will be a bit different due to Corona. Please read the details below.

Become a public artist and help beautify Lower Paxton Township parks by transforming a trashcan to treasure!

How It Works

Lower Paxton will provide plain metal barrels which you will create into a special work of art.

  1. Choose a theme for your trashcan. The theme should reflect public activities in Lower Paxton Township.  This year’s cans will be used as recycling cans in the parks.  Special lids with the recycling logo will be placed on the top of the can.
  2. Fill out the registration form and mail it to (by May 11): (or email it to Barb)
    Trash(can) to Treasure
    The Friendship Center
    5000 Commons Drive
    Harrisburg, PA 17112
  3. You supply your own paint and brushes.
  4. You may paint your organization name or individual name around the bottom of the can. In accordance with the Township policy, advertising of business is prohibited in parks.
  5. Trash cans must be finished and returned to the patio of the Friendship Center - TBD.
