Park Maintenance

Lower Paxton Township possesses 19 public park facilities and approximately 400 acres of park land maintained by the Public Works Department. Park facilities range from lightly developed forest and mountain land to established athletic fields, playgrounds, and activity courts. The inventory of outdoor recreational facilities includes baseball, softball, soccer and football fields; basketball, tennis, volleyball, boccie and racquetball courts; picnic pavilions; nature trails; and ancillary facilities such as parking lots, restrooms, and storage areas.

The Public Works Department performs routine and long term maintenance to all parks facilities. Maintenance activities include, but are not limited to, mowing grass, emptying trash cans, replenishing playground mulch, inspection and cleaning playground equipment, general park maintenance, aerating athletic fields in the spring and fall, and tilling ball infields.
