Storm Water Projects

Lower Paxton Township is in the process of constructing improvements to its storm sewer system at multiple locations.  These improvements involve the replacement of segments of existing storm sewers that have reached the end of their useful life.  The storm sewer pipes being replaced, for the most part, are corrugated metal and subject to corrosion.  Stormwater facility construction is expected to be ongoing over the next several years.

In 2012, the Township issued General Obligation Bonds with approximately $1.6 million of bond proceeds used for stormwater system improvements. In addition, the Township designated $200,000 from a loan issued by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Bank for stormwater improvements.

In 2013, the Township issued General Obligation Bonds with approximately $3 million pledged towards improvements to the stormwater system. In 2014, the Township again issued General Obligation Bonds with approximately $3 million pledged towards storm sewerwater improvements.

Since 2012, Lower Paxton Township has, on average, spent between $1 and $1.5 million per year on improvements to its stormwater system. With the issuance of the above referenced General Obligation Bonds, the Township expects to continue a similar level of annual spending on stormwater improvements through 2017.
