William L. Hornung
Back to Supervisors
Bill Hornung has held the office of Supervisor in Lower Paxton
Township since January 1994 serving as both Secretary and Vice-Chairman
of the Board of Supervisors. Bill has also served as a member
of the Township's Sewer Authority where he is Board Secretary.
As a member of the Board of Supervisors and Sewer Authority, Bill
has worked to resolve sanitary sewer issues that have adversely
affected Township community development activities. He has
been instrumental in the establishment of an effective program for
removing storm water from the sanitary sewer system. He has
actively worked with neighboring municipalities, the development
community, and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection
to resolve differences and promote an effective working environment
in the transmission and treatment of waste water.
Bill's efforts have not been limited to our sanitary sewer system.
He has been actively involved in the preparation of effective land
use and zoning regulations to better control development and provide
for a planned environment throughout our community. Bill has
focused his efforts on municipal police services and the development
of township park and recreation facilities. During Bill's
tenure as a Supervisor, Lower Paxton Township has reduced the Real
Estate Tax on three occasions and eliminated the Township's "Occupation
Privilege Tax" and "Per Capita Tax."
Bill is well known as the owner and friendly helpful face at
Hornung's Ace Hardware Store on Mountain Road. He is a graduate
of Central Dauphin High School and earned a Bachelor of Science
degree in Chemical Engineering from Villanova University.
In his spare time, when not in the store or attending township meetings,
he is a martial arts instructor and holds a Third Degree Black Belt
in Tai-Kwon-Do. Other activities included coaching youth baseball and soccer
in our community recreation organizations. Bill has six children:
Matthew, Jason, Ryan, Nichole, Stephanie, and Todd.
