Autumn Leaf Collection
Each autumn the Lower Paxton Township Public Works
Department conducts a Township Leaf Collection Program.
Each autumn, a proposed leaf collection schedule will be posted
on this page. It must be remembered that this
is a proposed schedule and subject to change without notice
due to weather and/or equipment concerns.
Helpful Guidelines for Leaf Collection
- Leaf Collection is for LEAVES ONLY. DO NOT place
sticks, twigs, branches, or other yard waste materials with
leaves. These materials will damage the vacuum equipment
and will delay the completion of the leaf program.
If the leaves are mixed with other materials the leaves
will not be collected.
- Rake the leaves to within 8 feet of the curb or edge of
roadway. Do not rake onto road. If leaves are
raked onto road it may cause a hazard for drivers as well
as clog storm water drains (inlets) during a rain event.
- Lower Paxton Township Public Works encourages resident
to tarp raked leaves so they do not blow around. The
Township will uncover the leaves and remove them.
The tarp will be left in the front yard for the resident
to handle for storage and reuse.
- Rake the leaves before the Monday of your collection week.
This will ensure that your leaves will be collected.
The Township has a large area to collect each week and is
unable to back track to areas already collected.
- The week of your collection, please avoid parking on the
street as it causes significant delays in the collection
of leaves and may even cause areas not to be collected.
- In an effort to remain effective and efficient Lower Paxton
Township needs to have all residents follow these guidelines
or be faced with the possibility of not having the leaves
collected.
- Lower Paxton Township does its best to collect leaves
through out the entire Township two (2) times during the
months of November and December. This of course is
greatly dependent on the weather and equipment. As
we found out in past years the weather can cause major delays
in our schedule. The Township appreciates your patience
during this program.
