ENFORCEMENT LOCATIONS
The Intensive Neighborhood Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (INSTEP) is an initiative to reduce traffic violations and improve the quality of life in neighborhoods. Traffic and accident data, along with citizen complaints, are analyzed to determine if actual traffic problems exist. A systematic approach involving improved signage, intensive enforcement, and public education is used to mitigate the traffic problem and gain driver compliance.
In addition to INSTEP, the police department regularly evaluates crash data to determine where and when most vehicle accidents are occurring. Using this data, Traffic Safety Unit supervisors and the Patrol Division commander assign officers to conduct traffic enforcement details at those locations at specified times. The following is a list of the primary speed enforcement locations where speed will be enforced in the first three months of 2010.
