LOWER PAXTON POLICE HOST FREE YOUTH POLICE ACADEMY
The Lower Paxton Township Police Department is currently accepting applications for their second Youth Police Academy to be held July 14 - 18, 2008. The academy is open to youth between the ages of 13 and 15. Township residency is not a requirement, however, priority will be given to township residents. Academy hours will be from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. Lunch will be provided. There is absolutely no cost for the program. Applications can be picked up at the Police Department; 425 Prince Street.

Areas of instruction include an introduction to the divisions that comprise the police department, '911' Communications, introduction to forensics tools and methods, basic crime scene processing, firearms familiarization and safety, and demonstrations by a K-9 patrol and the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team.

Parents or guardians interested in enrolling their children may pick up an application at the Lower Paxton Township Police Department between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 PM on July 4, 2008. If you have questions, call the Police Department at 657-5656 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and ask for Sergeant Tom Waller or Officer Stoner.
